Celebrate.

Not long ago it was international women's day and today we are celebrating Mother's Day. 

I had a conversation recently, it was on the challenges faced by women, the conversation centred on how we've been created. Our monthly cycles, our ability to carry & bear children and how these are disadvantageous to women. 

Well society has disadvantaged women based on these, our make up was not created to disadvantage women in any way. 

These got me thinking, women have not always been celebrated, it wasn't long ago that women were given right to vote, were allowed jobs, can get an education. 

Today governments in most parts of the world are working hard to ensure that women are fairly and equally treated. 

Recently in Italy a group called for the stay at home mums to be recognised and rewarded by the state. These all indicates how far we've come. 

The struggle goes on, as in many parts of the world women are still viewed to worth nothing more than a baby making machine, while many are been trafficked for one form of salivary or the next. 

As we celebrate Mother's Day, let's celebrate women in all her glories, let's all lend our voices to the struggle to be treated fairly & equally, let's not lose sight of the greater vision, freedom for all women, for 

a woman abused is a future robed of honesty

A woman misused is a talent misplaced

A woman undervalued is a like diamond trampled under foot. 

Recognise women for who they truly are

Gifted in equal measure, although bequeathed differently

Made stronger by life's challenges 

Endured with talents and gifts

She's a vessel of many fine things. 

and like a rose, she blossoms revealing many beautiful colours. 

She's entertaining, enduring, alluring, 

A builder of character, 

A bringer of peace, 

She emits a serenity around her amidst chaos, 

She gives passion where needed 

Hope when required

And dedication at all times. 

Her worth cannot be measured in financial rewards, 

but in the selfless acts of love behind clothes doors,  

Celebration of a woman is the celebration of a mother, a sister, an Aunty, a niece, it's a celebration of the present behind human birth. Ignore a woman and you are ignoring one of your own.
