No Strings Attached Love

In a world where our love is conditional on what others do for us it isn’t often we find unconditional love.

Every morning, as I get my kids ready for school or during the drive to school,  l try to set the tone for the day with encouraging and motivating words. After telling them they are, awesome, kind and so on… I tell them how much I love them.
At home one day , one of my daughters took me by surprised when she asked,  mummy, what if I don’t do kind things today will you still love me?.

That came out of the blue. I have never thought about loving her because she cleans her room or does kind things I just know that I love her… even before she was born.

But she has taken my love for her to be conditioned on doing my bidding

I hugged her and said. “I loved you from the day you were conceived”. I did not need to seen you but I loved you. And when you were born I loved you even more… So whether you do all I asked or not, (I may not love what you do, but I do love you), she gave me a big hug and said “I love you mummy”.

My daughters did not do anything to deserve my love, when they were helpless little babies who caused us many sleepless nights, cried none stopped when left alone, we loved them no less than we do now. It was a No Strings Attached Love. It was pure, undefiled and deep.

My love for my kids grows each day and it is not conditional on anything they do or don’t do… I hope it stays that way because as humans as our kids grow we may not like the changes and things we see.

This got me thinking, God's love never fails, it's as strong and intense from the moment he thought about us. However, it is sometimes tempting to misinterpret the instructions in the bible as the basis for God's love for us….

God's love is not conditional on anything you do or will ever do… It is a No Strings Attached Love. Simple and Pure Unconditional Love.
If his love was based on what we do or has done, we stood no chance, hence he made a choice to love us before we love him. He Loved us before we Loved him.... profound.

It was his love for us that brought him down to earth… we had gone away from our heavenly father that he wanted us back to himself. So he came in the form of a man to bring us back to himself.

While we were still in sin, in our wicked ways, Christ died for us”, this is love, nothing is. That he loved us just the way we are. It never ceases to amaze me that it was “While” we were still sinners… we were dirty, downright untouchable… only the God kind of love will embrace us the way we are.

Religion today has placed all kinds of conditions on God's love, but no: it is unconditional, with no strings attached.

His love is so pure, he had to born by a virgin.
His birth brought us hope, his life showed us the way to live.
His death brought ransomed us
his resurrection brought us life..
this Christmas we celebrate hope, a new way of life,
reconciliation with the father
and love so amazing so unconditional, so divine.

At Christmas, this is what I celebrate a love that keeps giving and loving.

As you celebrate, Reflect on this love and know that he loves you just the way you are.

Dear Father, thank you for the gift of Jesus,
Thank you for loving me the way you do
Unconditionally, relentlessly and recklessly.
Thank you that this love is endless.
Amen.

Christmas Lights

Lights, lights, lights, it's the time of the year where every where is dressed up in lights.

My house is transformed into a light House at this time of the year. We, (for the most part hubby) deck the front lawn in lights… Santa sleigh, gift boxes, tree light,,, twinkle lights all combine to give a bright glow….

I love lights which makes this my most favourite season of the year… as everywhere is lit up…
Why light?  what's so special about lights especially  at this time of the year?

Here in UK we have shorter days in winter which means that the day is already dark by 4.00pm!! And daylight doesn't show till 7.00am and sometimes 7.30am...so for the most part we are In darkness…

It is commonly known that some people are affected by the change from summer when we experience longer days to winter when we are plunged into darkness from 4.00pm…

People suffer from seasonal affective disorder a form of mental illness, many hospital struggle
To cope with the increase in patients needing treatment during the winter season due to SAD.
It is not uncommon to see people bright, happy and with a spring to their steps at the appearance of light...

Some people can and are able to go about their daily activities thanks to street lights.

Here are 5 main reason lights are significant...

1. Lights Gives Joy: imagine your light goes out temporarily and returns suddenly Everyone screams with joy… elated that lights is back, we rush about to do the things we were unable to do in the dark.

2. Light Makes Us Feel Safe: I usually start work early which means living the house at the crack of dawn and in winter that means while it's still dark. To feel safe I avoid dark alley ways and paths and stay on the main roads which is lit up. Walking in the light is comforting and reassuring. I feel safe that nothing is lurking in the corner.

3. Light Exposes. Nothing can be hidden where there is light.:. Which makes it is quite difficult to commit evil in the presence of light. This is why crime is high at night simply because criminals don’t want to be exposed. Light gives illumination which makes others aware of previously hidden truths.

4. Light Displaces Darkness: this is obvious. Light and darkness cannot coexist. When one comes the other is displays, he is the Christmas promise to all.

5. Light Makes Thing Possible: we are able to accomplish so much during the day. Working at night and other times is the exception not the norm.. the night is made for rest and day to work.

Christmas lights holds a significant spot in the advert Calendar as not only does it beautify our streets, it reminds us of Christ who is the light of the World.
Christ who represents everything that light is.
Christ as light brings us joy, in his presence there is fullness of joy.
Christ as light makes us feel safe, in his presence is safety.
Christ as light exposes the darkness of this world and leads all to repentance

His presence displays darkness, when we come into the knowledge of him we are transformed from darkness into the kingdom of his dear son.
Christ is light and in him is no darkness at all. Anyone who believes in him will experience constant light of his glory joy and grace.
Christ as light makes all things possible, stop doubting him and start believing him to bring the impossible to pass in your life.

Get to know him and he will bring the lights of his glory into your everyday life… his joy will become your source of strength…

So this Christmas as you light up your house, walk down the street, let the light of Christ shine into you.. for he is the light of the World.

In His Arms

As I made my way towards the open heaven’s team, I saw it lying helplessly on the ground. I picked it up as I sat down and lay it on me.

This was my daughter’s doll, they bring their dolls to church and on seeing their friends abandon them and run off to play.

This ministered to me and to the team, this doll couldn't get up by itself, it was helpless, but it has use, it brings joy and fun to my kids. I cradled it in my hands as the team encouraged me with God's love for me and that just liked I picked up the doll God will cradle me in his arms.

He wants me to rest in him and he wants to cuddle me and let me know that everything will be fine.

Too often we want to figure out our path, our next move and we rush into projects and take up well thought out ideas only to run into obstacles and difficulties. We find ourselves lost wanting to turn back. We come to a point where we're we become too tired to get up, this is when our father comes in.

When we are weak, then are we made strong. He comes in, picks us up and fathers us.

What we think we need to get by may actually not bring us rest, joy and contentment. It may be a good cause, but if it takes away your joy and leaves you in misery, ask the father to show you his perfect will for your life.

One minute the doll was lying helplessly on the floor the next it was resting in my arms. The father wants to pick us up, let him, come to him rest in his Bosom and find peace.

Are you weary from the toil of life? Do you seek help in the things you do, in financial wealthy, material things? Release all control to the father and let him cradle you in his arms and father you, this is where you will find rest.

Scary Future

We leave in unsettling times. No one is sure of what the future will bring. People are worried about their safety and that of their family all due to the recent referendum.
Political parties and Leaders are fighting for positions, the pound is at an all-time low, prices of goods are beginning to go up
Terrorist attack are on the increase nobody feels safe. In times like these what should we as Christians do?

I am reminded of the when the disciples too, faced an unsettling future. They had first hand knowledge of being with Jesus and knew what he can do, but now they are not so sure.
Jesus the promise one was taken violently in front of them and he did nothing, they were staggered at his response. Their future s didn't look so bright now.

What about Hannah, what future did she have of bearing her husband a child? Night and day she had cried to God to answer her plea for a child, yet nothing seem to be happening, what future did she have without kids? She wondered.

Joseph did not see his bright future when his wife to be became pregnant with a child who wasn't his. What future does he have, and who would believe this tale of an angel visiting them? Surely he should have done the honourable thing and left her privately, saving his family this disgrace.

David faced an uncertain future, time and time again. Everyone was after his life, Saul, his son and other kings. How can a King be living in caves and in hiding?

Of a truth man born of man, his days are filled with troubles. Though at present, it appears nothing good will come out of the future we can be assured that as we walk with our Lord he will turn around every bleak future for our good.

Presently the future certainly doesn’t seem good, what good is there to look forward to?
It’s either there is too many bad news or too much reporting of it.
I have resolved not to look at the future with trepidation, but to God, because:
He who looks at the future and fret is not one who looks to God.
Jesus did not stay dead, his life brought back hope to the disciples and the world.

Hanna later sang a song of victory because the God who works all things for the good of those who feared him, showed up with her request.

Joseph saw the demonstration of God’s power when the baby born by Mary became the resurrected king.

And David became the greatest king in Israel when God conquered all his enemies before him.

Uncertain times are times to be certain about the power of God to turn things around for our good. Trust in him at all times, for he owns your future.

The fear factor

Someone describe fear as false evidence appearing real.
They are right. Fear begins in the mind and develops into a thought, which when not nipped, develops into something bigger.

I remembered waiting for an exam results, after the exams I was confident about my grades. But as I waited for the results, a thought began to develop in my mind, “what if I fail”? I couldn't shake off this thought. The mistake I made was that I gave it room to fester.
Each time the thought came, I would analyse all possible scenario, what if I do not make the expected grades?
What if I actually failed the course?
What if, what if?

I kept analysing the worse case possible and the more I did that, the more fearful I became. Days before the results, I decided to do something, I wanted to be free from fear but felt powerless against it.

By the time the results came I had worked myself into a state where I was so drained by fear I couldn't be bothered to celebrate my success.

Here are 5 I ways I learnt to deal with fear

Go to the word: When fear shows up: go to the word. Remind yourself of God’s word. Do not forget it. Write it in the middle of your heart. He has promised to strengthen you. Ask him for strength to overcome fear. Ask him to help you wait if you are waiting for something specific. And to show you what to do while you are waiting.
Resist it: resisting fear is one of the ways we can control our thought. You can resist it by speaking out loud, “I am not afraid”.  “God has not given me the spirit of fear”, ‘but of a sound mind’. Say it as often as fear shows up and soon you will be begin to experience freedom from fear.
I wrote it down, I found this scripture encouraging so much so that I wrote it down, somewhere I can see it. I read it loud first thing  in the morning until it became a of me.
I meditated on it and other scriptures which reminded me of God’s great deliverance from fear. This helped me imagined a different outcome as I began to meditate on the word, a new picture of success started to develop in my mind’s eyes.
I prayed about it: part of resisting fear involves writing scriptures down and meditating on it, this often leads to prayer, I became bold enough to come to my father in heaven and ask him for strength to deal with fear, I reminded him of his word “Fear not” I am with you, Be not dismay, I am your God I will strengthen you,  I will help you ,  I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”

In what areas of your life have you allowed fear to paralyze you?
Maybe you are waiting for the news of that interview, or waiting to receive a medical report or just uncertain about your life in general. Has fear been your constant companion while you wait? Have you come to a point in your life where you feel helpless against fear?

Go to the word
Resist fear with the word
Write the word down, read it daily to become a part of you
Meditate on the word: so whenever fear show’s up, you can refer it to the word, and imagine a different picture from what fear is showing you.
Pray.
Employ this five ways and watch fear’s grip on you loosen, and soon you will be harmed to deal with every fiery thought of fear.

“Fear not”” has become my slogan”

Now whenever I feel fear, I call on the word. His word is love and he said perfect love cast out fear. So I speak in the word and fear is displaced For each worry I have a scripture.
I encourage you to immerse yourself in the word and draw from its well when fear rears its ugly head.

I can Only Imagine.

I was not sure what to expect when I attended sports day at my daughter's school recently. it was her first so it was important that we went. We attended to cheer her up and to ensure that she was not going to be the only one whose mum or dad was not present.

The day began in earnest as all the kids threw themselves in. I had instructed my daughter to run really fast on the way to school. During the race, she not only ran fast she took off like a bolt, and left everyone behind to win, her very first. I was one proud mum… Afterwards when I asked her how she did it, she said,  mum you told me to run fast and that's what I did

This got me thinking, the Olympics are currently under way and thousands of people are competing to win, they have trained for this event and are ready to compete. They all want to win.

We as Christians are also in a race, earth is our training ground and we have been instructed to run to win, that we may obtain a price.

But how?

By training our minds on all that is true, good, honest, pure, and of a good report. Only by disciplining our bodies and subjecting it to the will of God can we expect to  win.

As I watched the Olympics I was amazed by the commitment these athletes have towards their sport, some have trained for hours and months on ends sacrificing time with loved ones. They were ready in season and out of season. 2 Tim 4:2. They stayed ready.

We cannot win if we are distracted by the pressures of life, the cares of this world and the pleasures we enjoy.

How to Win:
To win in life we have to have a ready mind and a ready attitude, we need to build our muscles of faith to withstand the harsh circumstances which may come our way. We have to look to him who has called us… we need to keep our eyes on the prize, just like these contestants.

Seeing my daughter win was a great delight. Imagine, what it will be like when we are welcome to receive the prize for winning here on earth and making it to hear these words “well done” good and faithful servant”. I can only imagine.
So let us Run to win, that we may obtain a good reward.

Clear Out

It's summertime which means time to clear out for me. I often clear out the cupboards of old canned foods, clear out closet, sort out some old paper cabinets, my email box is not excluded, I go over mails I haven’t had the time to delete and get rid of these.  Nothing is left out during my summer clearing out.

This got me thinking about our minds and brain which processed so much information daily, weekly, monthly and yearly. We clog them up with both wanted and unwanted stuff. We worry about any and everything.
Just like our cupboards, closet and cabinets which needs sorting out, so does our minds, we need to daily Purge our minds of the stuff which we have allowed to settle.

We are admonished to be of a clean mind, of a pure heart.,James 4:8 tells us to purify our hearts, Matthew 23.25. Jesus had strong words to say about the state of the heart. We take so much care of the exterior but inside is full of rotten bones “strong words” indeed.

So straight from my heart is this encouragement for us to

Empty out
The negative
The offences
The hurt
The disappointment
Bitterness
Guilt

Release all pain and live space within you for joy, love, peace and happiness.
Holding on to things which should be flush out builds up toxin which contaminant the heart. Bitterness, guilt and worry are infections holding on to them infects us.
Many things can bring these about, failing health, financial troubles, divorce.

Are you holding on to infections, angar and worry? Empty your mind of these feelings, daily clear out the debris which has settled on the corridors of your heart, soul and spirit. Take hold of the Word and be renewed afresh.

When you make room, your life will be full of good things, joy indescribable and full of glory.
Begin to clear out today for a clean fresh start.

Beat The Worry Habit

A few years ago, I use to worry about every little thing, my worries were so irrational, I knew something had to change. I had to change.

We all have things to think about, we have health, financial, career and family issues. We also need to makes plans about the future but there is a difference between planning and worrying.

Worry eats us up bit by bit and if left unchecked it leads to various diseases, headaches, palpitations, anxiety, depression.
Here are a few indicators that you are a worrier.
  • You analyse every possible outcome of any issue.
  • You stay awake thinking and when you do fall asleep you have an unsettled rest
  • You are not at peace
  • Constantly seeking out information from various sources.  For example, googling an illness to see if the symptoms you are having matches.
How do we get out of this habit and dwell in a peaceful and restful place? Below are 5 helpful tips to deal with anxious thoughts.

  1. Stop Being Anxious: Philippians 4:6-7 tells us not to be anxious about ANYTHING. Anything means anything. I used to be scare if I was at peace and have nothing to worry about. All I have to do is look around and find something.  This passage was a revelation to me. “Be anxious for nothing” absolutely nothing, But, in everything with prayer make your request known.
  2. Pray: In prayer we tell God our problems. Tell him your needs and leave it in his hands trusting that he knows what's best for you and will bring it to pass.
  3. Let go. The secret to enjoying life is to let go of every worry and release them to the all-seeing and knowing care of God. He cares for you and knows your future better than you. It is not enough to pray; you have to cede control to him. Do not retain ownership of the problem after praying.  Rather let go of your precious cargo… “The issues of life”. After praying make a conscious and deliberate choice not to think of the very thing you just prayed about. Dwell on the nature and goodness of God.
  4. Place your trust in God: Being anxious indicates lack of trust. If you are anxious about your husband cheating it means you don’t trust him. If you trust him, you will not be anxious, no matter the time he gets home. Same with God. Trust in God frees us from worry because we trust him to fulfil his promises concerning us. We take no anxious thoughts for tomorrow, our next pay cheque, kids, economy or health because we trust him and know he cares for us.
  5. Protect Your Heart: Close the door on negativity, people may be talking about you, trouble at work, set back in health and finances, stay in the secret place. Where you're protected from the cares of life's and the worries that comes with it.
  6. Dwell On Good Things: Worry springs primarily from what we think about. To control your thoughts feed your mind on things which encourages and build you up. (take no thought of yourself)? Why are we told to take no thought? Because persistent thinking leads to worry. Our daily thoughts affect our peace, it's easy to guard your heart if you do not read negative stuff.

You can take control of your anxiety, you can begin today to modify your heart and be in peace. Decide to let go and trust God to take care of you.

My Facebook Life

My life in pictures.

Someone said to me yesterday, I like your life in pictures. Referring to my FB post.
I wish I have time to have fun like that.

This was food for thought?
What do we really have time for now?
I have really enjoyed my time off work as a result of the school holidays. I do things with my family normally, but this was special, something was different because I decided to let go of every stress and really just be in the moment, to stop worrying  about the millions of ideas and things I have to do.
To enjoy every moment and go back to the simple things I love.
Which are to spend time with good friends, my family and God.
I really felt a release as I was not pulled in Several directions. I am able to focus on my projects without pressure or strain of performing.

This was a big relief for me and I came to the realisation that my life in picture may be great, what matters is my life behind the click of a Botton.
I am happy and grateful, I really am. My life may not be perfect but I am at peace.

Life's journey consists of the little details which brings us joy,
The sorrows we face which makes us strong.
The struggles we strive to overcome.
The pride of succeeding at every small venture.
The node from a loved one which speaks volume.
The silence of friends who understands your pain.
The strength of comfort we give others.

Our life in pictures may not always mirror our daily existence, but they are ours nonetheless, in that moment, in that place where we are happy, nothing else matters.

You may not leave your life on display, regardless, set time to love deeply, care truly and serve sincerely. That's what matters.
Treat your off Facebook friends as you would your Facebook friends.
Guide your heart jealously, protect it from stress, pressures and unhealthy thoughts.

Release yourself to hope, faith and love, let go of the burdens of expectation, focus on being the best picture of you, the one which  brings real joy to others. That's the picture which matters.

Yes, my in picture is great but my life off picture is unbelievable awesome.
And for that I am eternally grateful.

I Am Adopted.

Yes you heard that right. I didn't know this until a few years ago. I certainly didn't know what it felt like to be adopted as part of a big family, because I was always treated the same as the first born.

One of my best friends recently adopted a child, prior to the adoption being finalised, the anticipation was at peak levels. It took years of meetings, paperwork, meeting other kids to finally decide to adopt this beautiful child.
Finally, the day came and their child came to stay with them.
A new chapter began in their lives. Not only was she given a new home, She was given a new identify, new hope,  new future and a new inheritance. She's treated the same as the first born. A big brother who adores her.
This was what I found, about my adoption.
I was chosen before the foundations of the earth. In Christ, he saw me and set me apart for himself. So, when I accepted him as saviour, I stepped into my position as a daughter. "Adopted daughter".

I was given a new home, a new name, a new heart, a change of identity and a new inheritance.
Just like  my friend's adopted child. I shared everything equally with the first born "Jesus". I was treated the same. Adore by my big "brother", protected, shielded, and loved.

This adoption was made possible by His death, he signed the paperwork with his blood. His meeting place was hell, where he met with my old keeper to secure my son ship.
His death was the passage through which I secured my inheritance, I am able to cry Aba father, because he died and rose again.

My adoption guarantees life, wealth, safety, hope, peace, love, joy, relationship
And a place in heaven.

I see the special relationship my friend has with her daughter, the joy, this has brought. This makes me know what joy I bring my father.

You too are adopted, step into your position as a sons and daughters, you are joint heirs with Christ because he secured your position to your inheritance by blood.
The next time you see an adopted child, smile, because you are one.

Happy Easter.

The Best Unanswered Prayer.

It was getting to that time, he knew it, his friends knew it too.

Soon he will be gone or will he really?
Will Judas change his mind, will come to himself and not go through with it?

Maybe HIS father will figure out another way to save this world.
This world full of pain, woe, rejection and much more.

How can they treat him like this?
What did he do apart from healing their sick?
Rising their dead, restoring sight to the blind,
Giving hope to the hopeless. Humans, how cruel. Yet I am the sacrifice for them?

‘Father find another way’. This prayer went unanswered.
At weddings he provided when they ran out.
Talk about feeding people, refreshments were always in abundance at his gatherings.

How can his acts be all bad? Just because he said he is the son of God. Father let this cup pass. No response.

Surely His works spoke for him?
Who amongst those he'd helped will defend for him.
He knew Peter was flaky, quick to act and defend him.
But he also knew Peter, O, dear Peter was going to deny him.

Who does he have left?
Gosh, “Father let this cup pass”.

Find another way. You can do all things. Silence.

What do you think was going through the mind of Jesus days leading up to the cross?
Jesus was in the world as a man so he may have been worried and unsure. We are told he was tempted in every way, as a man. So my guess is, all kinds of thoughts passed through his mind. Thoughts like those mentioned above.

We had a peek into his mind at Gethsemane, when he told His Friends,
“My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death”. He was thinking about the Cross.
This was one prayer his father was not going to answered, because Jesus has to DIE. That is the rescue plan for man’s redemption.

Have your prayers gone unanswered? I belt you too have sought God’s face a few times, and silence is all you got. You know all things work together for good, but right now, you’d rather quit, than face the pain you are experiencing.

Have you stopped to think? Maybe he wants you to go through the pain of waiting to reap the joy of coming out as pure gold. Just as the prayers of Jesus to the father was met with silence, his death on the cross turned out to be the best unanswered prayer.
Remember he said in Romans 8:32 “he who did not spare his own son, but gave him up for us all, how will he not also along with him graciously give us all things”?

Go through with it. His plans are the best laid plans.
You may not have a clear answer to your request right now, be rest assured he’s given his son for you…he will along with him bring your hearts desires to pass

March On

Seeing the roses bloom, seeing faces come alive,
watching their expectant,
tells me spring has sprung

the year marches on
we continue on with our daily task,
some brings hope
others despair
I still see an end,
filled with promises of gladness

Am anchored to his promises
of comfort and strenght in times of need
I stay close to the anchor
and place all wishes at his feet.

Say, March on in faith,
not wavering or yeilding to defeat.
and if at the end your hopes still waits,
Do wait, it will surely come.

Who is God Now?

It is finish, He cried,

The soldiers were stunned

What is he talking about, they asked?

He must be suffering from the pain of the beatings he had received

Some laughed at him for crying out loud,

God crying, save yourself they chorused

Others pitied Him

held him in scorn

stones petted his body

he hung his head and took one last breath,

O, the roar from the soldiers

We got him they cheered

God, hung dead

Who is God now? They mocked.

They didn't laugh long

Because, three days later,

They received word that His Tomb is empty.

"Empty"?

It can't be, He was finished!!!!

He is dead, we saw him die,

we brought him down.

No my friend, he's risen, angels announced it

he appeared to his friends

and they are all excited again

Because, dead was swallowed up in victory

His dead was the release he sought for sinners

condemned to die

He died and completed His assignment here on earth,

Death is finished

Pain is vanquished

Sorrow removed

Sin defeated

Sickness is finished

Just because he died,

His death and resurrection

Secured a life of fullness for all mankind.

It is Finished.

A Big Stone Problem.

My girls like picking up all sorts of strange things when we go out walking. Weeds which they call flowers, stones, papers, unusual items etc.
Recently, we went out walking and came to a construction site, by the side of the road was a stone, they took turns trying to lift it, but couldn't.

‘mummy you try’, they chorused.
I picked it up easily to their delight.
“Mummy's got powers”, they screamed excitedly.

It was a little stone to me but a big one to them.
The problems we often face appear immovable and enormous like stones we can’t shift or lift.

Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of Jesus and Salome had a big stone problem. On the 3rd day of Jesus's death, they brought spices to anoint his body, on their way to the tomb they wondered amongst themselves: 'Who shall roll away the stone', it was very great.

As they made their way to the tomb, it suddenly dawned on them, that none of them can roll the stone away. They have to anoint his body, now a stone STOOD in their way. Perhaps they considered who amongst Jesus's friends to ask for help.

Peter? 'No, he's no good, have you seen the state of him since the master was killed?' Guilt has eaten him up.
James?
John?
Andrew? And one by one they eliminated the disciples. I am sure they considered going back, they must have, they had no tools, no help, and a big stone.
Should we go back? Let's just continue, “we have come too far to turn back now”.

The question remains "Who will roll away the stone"?

Maybe it was Mary the mother of Jesus who insisted on carrying on, maybe something Jesus told her kept her going? Maybe she just wanted to see her dear son.

Imagine their reaction when they got to the tomb to find that their problem had gone, “the stone has been rolled away”. Surprised, shocked, worry, fear, all kinds of emotions must have coursed through them.
Who will roll away the stone?
Became, who rolled the stone away?
What happened to him? Has someone taken him?

I Blew My Top Off: and stopped worrying.

Today was not meant to go the way it did, let me rephrase this morning was not meant to go the
way it did. I woke up not feeling high, no not high on any substance, I am usually in a good mood, singing and humming, Declaring into my day and all that. But not today. I just couldn't get going, well I did get going when I heard this news.

I blew my top off because I came out of the house to see a big crack on my windscreen.

I was not a happy bunny. Immediately I imagined a 1000 scenarios of how it could have happened. Did someone throw a brick and I didn’t notice, was it a malicious act? Etc. the conspiracy theory continued in my head. From there I moved on to the cost of fixing it up, and worried some more about that.

Finally, I had to stop. I was working myself into a fit. I had to stop. It’s only a screen I said out loud during one of my intense analysis.

The minute I did that I was able to see clearly what I can do, I immediately located my insurance documents, checked them to see if the repairs will be covered by them. Once this was confirmed

Then I contacted the workshop, and arranged for it to be replaced.

The moment I stopped I was able to think clearly and stopped worrying. Worry is a choice; it can be active or passive. So how do you deal with or stop yourself from worrying.

Here are my top 8 ways of dealing with Worrying thoughts.

1.                  Speak out loud: Worry often happens internally; we internalize our situation to the point of developing a headache. I have learnt to speak out loud whatever issues or situation causing me to worry. The sound of my voice, speaking out that issue shifts my focus from the internal to the external. It is just as if I have told someone those problems and the problem have become theirs. This helps me really analyse the situation from a 3rd person point of view.

2.                Pray: This is closely related to speaking it out loud: In praying we give our problems over to God, he provides wisdom to deal with the issue and peace to live it in his hands

3.              Detach yourself; Speaking the problem out loud enables you to detach yourself from the situation. Being detach, you are able to analyse the situation from the outside. You can provide useful advice on how to deal with that issue as if you were talking to a friend.

4.                Focus on the solution. Being detach enables your mind to focus on several solutions, because you are no longer emotionally involved, the thought process is clear enough to provide alternatives to the problem.  The moment I stopped worrying I was able to see clearly a solution, “my insurance”. The time spent worrying was wasted.

5.                Take action: it would have been a total waste of my time to locate the insurance papers and do nothing about it. Once you have identified the solution, take action. Action will lead to results. Results ends worry. The moment I discovered it was covered by my insurance, I contacted the glass repair expert. I took action.

6.                Take a deep Breath. Yes, it’s that simple, often we are tense and really worked up. Taking a deep breath will loosen any tight muscles around the shoulders. Taking a deep breath may involve a 3 minutes breathing exercise which will help you refocus our mind

I do not take for granted that some of you may be going through some life threatening issues, you may feel that employing these steps does not apply to your particular situation.
My encouragement to you is to try them and see if there is any change in how you feel.
find yourself fretting over any aspect of your life:

·         Speak out Loud (SOL)

·         Pray

·         Detach yourself

·         Focus on the solution

·         Take action

·         Take a deep breath.

Take these steps every time you find yourself engrossed in worrying thoughts and you will be amazed at how quickly your mental state will change from one of complete and utter confusion to being focused.

Please share with us steps you have taken to deal with worrying thoughts.

Mother's Job Description

On this mother's day, I want to share a brief description about the job description of a mother.

A few months ago, when I was picking up the children at school, another mother I knew well rushed up to me. Emily was fuming with Indignation.
'Do you know what you and We are?' she demanded. Before I could answer and I didn't really have one handy, she blurted out the reason for her question.

It seemed she had just returned from renewing her driver's license at the county clerk's office. Asked by the woman recorder to state her 'occupation', Emily had hesitated, uncertain how to classify herself.
'What I mean is, explained the recorder, 'do you have a job, or are you just a......?
'Of course I have a job,' snapped Emily. 'I am a mother.'
'We don't list "mother" as an occupation... "housewife" covers it, ' said the recorder emphatically.

I forgot all about her story until one day I found myself in the same situation, this time at our own Town Hall. The clerk was obviously a career woman, of a high-sounding title like 'Official Interrogator' or 'Town Registrar'
And what is your occupation?' she proded.

What made me say it I do not know. The words simply popped out.

I'm a Research Associate in the field of Child Development and Human Relations.'

The Clerk paused, ball-point pen frozen in midair, and looked up as though she had not heard right.
I repeated the title slowly, emphasizing the most significant words. Then I stared with wonder as my pompous prouncement was written in bold black ink on the official questionnaire.

'Might I ask,' said the clerk with new interest, 'just what you do in your field?'
Coolly, without any trace of fluster in my voice, I heard myself reply, 'I have a continuing program of research (what mother doesn't) in the laboratory and in the field
(normally I would have said indoors and out). I'm working for my Masters (the whole darned family) and already have fur credits (all daughters).

Of course, the job is one of the most demanding in the humanities (any mothers care to disagree?) and I often work fourteen hours a day (twenty-four is more like it).
But the job is more challenging than most run-of-the-mill careers and the rewards are in satisfaction rather than just money.'
There was in increasing note of respect in the clerk's voice as she completed the form, stood up, and personally ushered me to the door.

As I drove into our drive way buoyed up b my glamorous new career, I was greeted by my lab assistants-age thirteen, seven, and three. And upstairs, I could hear our new experimental model (six months) in the child development program, testing out a new vocal pattern.

I felt triumphant. I had scored a beat on bureaucracy, and I had gone down on the official records as someone more distinguished and indispensable to mankind than 'just another....'

Home..... what a glorious career. Especially when there's a title on the door.

Happy Mother's Day.
